President Gotabaya Rajapaksa says the most difficult and painful decision he has ever taken in his life is to request former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to resign, Ada Derana reported.
The President said that he had taken such a decision thinking of the nation.
Commenting on the proposed 21st Amendment to the Constitution, the President said it has been drafted with his complete consensus.
The President reportedly expressed these views during a meeting with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Parliamentary group.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, and MP Basil Rajapaksa were also in attendance.
During the meeting, Minister of Justice Prof. Wijedasa Rajapakshe briefed the group on the proposed 21st Amendment to the Constitution. (NewsWire)
