Matara Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a protester in Matara today to 3 & 1/2 years of rigourous imprisonment over several charges including unlawful assembly and damaging a police three-wheeler.
30 year old individual has been also ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 6,000 & Rs. 50,000 for damaging the police three-wheeler during April protest in Matara.
The incident occurred when a group had protested demanding fuel by obstructing the Colombo – Matara road on 19th of April 2022. (NewsWire)
