Details of PM’s meeting with Chinese Ambassador released

China has reaffirmed its continuous and concrete support for Sri Lanka during the prevalent economic crisis.

Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong called on Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today.

The Chinese Embassy in Colombo said that during the meeting, the Ambassador had reaffirmed China’s continued and concrete support for Sri Lanka, including grants, trade, and investment.

Chinese banks are also ready to negotiate with Sri Lanka to properly handle matured debts, it said.

Prime Minister Wickremasinghe in return has agreed with the Chinese Ambassador on the importance of joint ventures and projects between the two nations.

The Chinese Embassy said both officials have agreed that the joint ventures have been playing a vitally important role in Sri Lanka’s development and employment in the current crisis. 

They had also agreed that both sides should support their construction and operation to generate impulse for Sri Lanka’s economic recovery. (NewsWire)
