Man killed in shooting at Peliyagoda Manning Market

A 42-year-old man has died following a shooting incident reported at the Manning Market in Peliyagoda today. 

The Police said the deceased has been identified as a businessman commonly known as Umber Shan, who owns several fruit stalls at the Manning Market and is a resident of Kotahena.

Two unidentified men who had arrived in a white colour car are reported to have shot the victim and fled the area. 

The incident had occurred this afternoon and the victim had been pronounced dead upon admission to the hospital.

The Police have launched an investigation into the shooting, while statements have been recorded from witnesses at the crime scene.

The cause of the death is still unknown and preliminary investigations have revealed the use of a T-56 firearm. (NewsWire)
