July 8, 2022 at 12:22 PM

The Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) reportedly will only distribute fuel to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and industries during the weekend.

LIOC Managing Director Manoj Gupta said that the company’s petroleum terminal in Trincomalee will continue to supply fuel to the CPC and all the industries today, tomorrow (09), and Sunday (10).

Gupta added that, however, the LIOC will commence supplying fuel to sheds from Monday (11).

His statement comes as earlier it was reported that the LIOC was likely to close down its petroleum terminal in Trincomalee and fuel stations islandwide as a safety precaution tomorrow (09).

The Morning reported that Gupta had revealed that discussions were currently underway regarding the closing of their terminal and fuel stations considering the current developments in the country.

LIOC is currently issuing fuel for private vehicles, while the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) supplies fuel only to essential services. (NewsWire)
