The Ministry of Energy has held a discussion on the distribution of fuel for vehicles in the public transportation and taxi service industries.
Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said the discussion focused on fuel requirements of the Ceylon Transport Board (CTB) and Private buses, and Taxis.
It was decided to identify the requirements for each category by the National Transport Commission (NTC) with the assistance of the Provincial Councils and recommend the fuel requirements to the Ministry of Power and Energy.
The Minister said once the requirements are received the ministry will look at the possibility of allocating additional quotas for those requirements on a separate QR code by next week.
Until such time, CTB depots will continue to fulfill the requirements of Private buses from the 107 CTB depots as last week and the taxis will receive the standard quota this week, he added.
Representatives of 15 taxi service associations and officials of the Ministry of Transport participated in the discussion. (NewsWire)
