The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has launched an investigation into allegations made in last year’s Channel 4 documentary about the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka. The probe follows a complaint filed by an organization with the Ministry of Public Security, referencing statements made by Azad Maulana to the British channel.
Former Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, also known as Pilleyan, has been summoned to the CID tomorrow (12) to provide a statement in connection with the documentary’s claims.
Police Media Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa confirmed the development during a press briefing today (11).
