Nearly 35,000 spectators have gathered in Hambantota International Cricket stadium now for the ongoing 2nd One Day International between Sri Lanka and West Indies.

It is noteworthy that an international match is being played in Hambantota after a hiatus of more than 2 years.

Police had to intervene in dispersing a group of cricket fans earlier today to control the crowds coming into the stadium.

Sri Lanka’s 345/8 against West Indies is a World Record.

Police officers were seen assaulting some cricket fans according to video footage published by Hiru TV.

Spectators allege that only 2 gates were open for the fans to enter into the stadium and that is exactly why there were difficulties faced by fans and an unnecessary rush was created.
