3 more Covid patients, 500 PCR Tests done yesterday, suspected patient escaped from Hospital

3 more people tested positive for COVID-19 increasing the Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka now at 241.

Health Ministry confirmed that all 3 patients were from Poonani Qurantine Center

Sri Lanka has conducted more than 500 Covid19 PCR Tests yesterday according to Health DG Dr. Anil Jasinghe.

Yesterday no Covid19 patients were reported in Sri Lanka. Some had speculated that this is because Sri Lanka is not doing enough Testing but Health DG Ajith Jasinghe in a statement confirmed that Sri Lanka had done more than 500 PCR Tests yesterday.

PCR Tests are currently conducted in 13 hospitals around the country and from Tomorrow Batticoloa hospital will also begin PCR testing, Health DG said.

He said COVID19 PCR Tests are done in a scientific manner and it takes nearly 5 to 6 hours to complete a Test.

Kotahena Patient 

Family members of the Kotahena Covid19 patient who was the last patient found have also tested negative after PCR Tests were conducted on them.

Meanwhile Police has taken action to isolate nearly 200 people from Gunasinhapura, Colombo who had connections with a Covid19 patient reported from Ja-Ela.

2 persons among them were admitted to hospital after they showed Covid19 symptoms last night.

One of them who was admitted has escaped the hospital, local TV reported.
