US$ 40,000 financial provisions allocated for workers welfare divisions based in 14 countries

Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has allocated US$ 40,000 in total for the welfare of emigrated workers, in light of fulfilling the needs of them and providing help for those who facing difficulties during the lockdown in each country due to the fears of Covid-19 spread.

Accordingly, labourers based in UAE (Dubai & Abudabi), Bahrain, Cyprus, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Oman, Maldives, Qatar, Saudi Arabia (Riyadh & Jeddah), South Korea and Singapore will be benefited through the funds allocated for the 16 Workers Welfare divisions mentioned above, with US$ 2500 for each workers welfare division. Furthermore, approval has been given to provide relief through the Workers Welfare Fund in each country as well.

These funds were allocated by SLBFE Chairman Kamal Ratwatte after being approved by its board of directors, according to a decision made by Dinesh Gunawardena, the relevant Minister.
