A 2-year-old child and her mother who had visited the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children (LRH) in Colombo have tested positive for COVID-19.
Director of the Hospital DR. G. Wijesuriya said that the father of the child from Wellampitiya has been identified as a coronavirus patient.
“We had suspicion on three patients who were admitted on Sunday (18). Due to this, we took measures to isolate the patients and provide treatment. The PCR tests of the patients received yesterday revealed that a mother and her 2-year-old daughter had tested positive for Covid-19,” he said.
Dr. Wijesuriya further said that two patients have been identified as residents of Wellampitiya, close to Borella.
Further investigations have revealed that the father of the child who works at a private company in Borella had tested positive as well.
However, no staff member of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children contracted the virus from this incident, he said.
Dr. Wijesuriya said the mother and child have been admitted to the IDH hospital for treatment.
The Director of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children further requested people to only visit the hospital for essential requirements. (NewsWire)
