Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi today took part in a trial to test a drug developed by a local Ayurvedic doctor in Kegalle to treat COVID-19.

Preliminary investigations have been conducted with the intervention of Western Doctors on the drug developed by Ayurvedic Doctor Dhammika Bandara.

The Government has focused its attention on the drug as it had produced positive outcomes after being administered to volunteer patients at Covid treatment centres in estates.

A special discussion was held under the aegis of Minister Wanniarachchi with various Health Ministry officials on formulating guidelines with regard to the administration of the drug.

The Health Ministry said an expert committee was also appointed during the discussion to study and draft the guidelines on the locally developed medicine. (NewsWire)
