Schools instructed to suspend all special functions

Schools in Sri Lanka have been advised to postponed all special functions until further notice.

Secretary to the Education Ministry Professor Kapila Perera issued the directives to schools today via Zonal Education Officers.

He said the directives have been issued after taking into consideration the existing coronavirus pandemic in Sri Lanka.

The Education Ministry Secretary pointed out that the Ministry has received reports of schools holding various functions, disregarding the pandemic.

He said it was essential to safeguard the students and all those involved in school duties, and act with responsibility in this regard.

The principals of all schools have been advised to immediately suspend all functions that have already been planned and are to be held in the future as well. (NewsWire)
