A charity cricket match has been proposed between the current national team and the Sri Lanka Legends team consisting of former cricketers.

Chairman of the medical panel of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board Professor Arjuna de Silva told NewsWire that discussions are underway on the match, which is being planned to raise funds for COVID-19.

He said the proposed Twenty-20 match will most likely be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo in April.

Dasun Shanaka will captain the current national team, while a skipper is yet to be determined for the Sri Lanka Legends team.

Former cricketer Thilakaratane Dilshan is currently leading the Sri Lanka Legends team in the Road Safety World Series underway in India.

Professor Arjuna de Silva further said it has been proposed to allow 50% of spectators to watch the cricket match at the stadium.

The arrangements are being made after Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa had recently proposed holding a twenty-20 cricket match between the current national team and the Sri Lanka Legends team. (NewsWire)
