Necessity is the mother of all inventions they say & if there’s technology why not use it? These above words are what has made so many “out of the box thinkers” excel in their fields during this global pandemic. Lanka Lions of UAE is one such association that has dared to be different and hence their 40 yearlong traditional Dinner Dance in the UAE is going virtual this time.

BLACK with Ranil Amirthiah as its frontman has been a band that revolutionized the Virtual Concert concept and has more than six such shows under their belt within four months. BLACK is also not a stranger to UAE, having performed at their dinner dance 4 times with great success and response.

This Virtual Dinner dance going live from Cinnamon Lakeside at 8 pm, Dubai time and 9.30 pm SL time on the 9th of April is a “One of a kind” show and will be the first of its kind in the world with raffle draws and many interesting “Dinner Dance” type games hosted by the evergreen Clifford Richards.

To add spice and colour to BLACK Lanka Lions have roped in Gypsies fame Sunil Perera and also Corrine Almeida to do guest spots. Recognized by the Sri Lankan Foreign mission, and other professional associations as the flag bearer of the Sri Lankan community, Lanka Lions has been the Premier Sri Lankan social events and sports club in UAE.

Founded in 1977, based on the primary principle of “service without any distinction of religious, ethnic, cultural, and political demarcations”, Lanka Lions have served the Sri Lankans in UAE and back home steadfastly for the last 44 years.

They have been at the forefront to galvanize the Sri Lankan expatriates through regular social and sports activities. Social activities have covered, Care and Repatriation support during the Pandemic Celebration of Sri Lankan New Year, Christmas, Vesak, Pongal Celebrations and Family dinner dance (our 40th gala Dance in December 2019 hosted 450 guests at prestigious Address Hotel Downtown) Family outing Iftar evening and Eid celebrations.
