The Sri Lanka Grama Niladhari Association says that they are extremely inconvenienced with the sudden government decision to provide an allowance of Rs. 5000/- for 7 categories of families including low income families in lieu of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

Addressing a press briefing in Kandy today (11) President of the Grama Niladhari association, Sumith Kodikara said that the Grama Niladharis cannot get involved in the payment process of this Rs. 5000/- allowance.

He further said that with just one day left for the New Year, it is disappointing that the government is ordering public servants to provide the allowance hastily. (NewsWire)
