A tense situation was reported in Parliament during Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Harin Fernando’s statement today.
Several heated arguments broke out between Government MPs and Fernando, after the latter made certain revelations with regard to the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks.
MP Harin Fernando told parliament that that former Criminal Investigations Department Director Shani Abeysekara had unearthed links between an intelligence officer and the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
He mentioned that these facts had not been included in the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry that was appointed to probe into the attacks.
Responding to MP Harin Fernando, Minister Johnston Fernando informed the SJB MP to file a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department in this regard or to make a public statement on the matter without hiding behind Parliament privileges. (NewsWire)
