All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) MP Rishad Bathiudeen and his brother Riyaj have been further detained for another 90-days by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the two men were arrested on 24th April in Colombo -07 on charges of aiding an abetting a suicide bomber of the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.

Upon their arrest, the Director of the CID had obtained a detention order under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) for a period of 72-hours.

However, as the detention order comes to an end this morning, the CID has obtained another detention order, also under the PTA, for a period of 90-days to conduct investigations.

The CID will conduct investigations into the scientific, oral, document, and technological evidence linked to the two suspects and the Easter attacks.

DIG Ajith Rohana said the Terrorism Investigation Unit is also conducting further investigations into the matter. (NewsWire)
