5 Grama Niladhari Divisions in 3 Districts isolated

Several areas in Sri Lanka have been isolated due to the existing coronavirus pandemic.

Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said five Grama Niladhari (GN) Divisions in three Districts have been isolated with immediate effect.

The Wellawaya Municipal Council area, Weherayaya, Kottamgahabokka GN Divisions in Wellawaya have been isolated.

The Rahathangama GN Division in Buttala in the Monaragala District has also been isolated.

The Army Commander further said the Kumarigama GN Division in Uhana in the Ampara District has been isolated with immediate effect.

He added that the Alugolla GN Division in the Matale District has also been isolated.

Sri Lanka reported the highest number of Covid cases to be detected in a single day yesterday.

The Army Commander said 1111 cases were detected yesterday, with 1089 from the Peliyagoda cluster, 07 from the Prison cluster and 15 of them people who had returned overseas.

The total death toll due to COVID-19 also increased to 655 after eight more deaths were reported yesterday. (NewsWire)
