Six Grama Niladhari (GN) Divisions in the Tricomalee District have been isolated with immediate effect.
Army Commander Shavendra Silva said the isolated areas are Sumethagampura, Moodovi, Koviladi, Linga Nagar, Kavattikuda, and China Bay GN Divisions.
He said the areas have been placed in isolation due to a spike in COVID-19 cases.
All people in isolated areas have been requested to remain at home, while only health officials, tri-forces and essential services will be permitted to enter.
Forty-seven (47) Covid infected people were detected in the Trincomalee District within the last 24-hours ending at 06am today.
According to the COVID Task Force the infected individuals were found from the Agbopura, Gomarankadawala, Kantale, Morawewa, and Trincomalee areas. (NewsWire)
