A pay dispute has been reported after the salaries of Sri Lanka National cricketers were cut down by nearly 65% ahead of the Test series against Bangladesh.

According to the Island, as per the previous contract a player in the top category earned US$ 130,000.

However, as per the latest pay cut they could receive lesser than US$ 45,000; which is a 200% salary cut.

Meanwhile, the seniority payment has reportedly been removed from the payment scheme as well.

Under this payment scheme, a player with over 20 Tests would be paid an additional amount of US$ 500, over 40 Tests an additional amount of US$ 750, over 60 Tests a bonus of US$ 1000, while someone who has represented the country in 80 Tests would earn an additional US$ 2000, for every game he plays.

The cancellation of this incentive has reportedly angered the top brass of the national cricket team.

The lawyers of the cricketers of the National team are currently engaged with the administration over the pay dispute.

Sri Lanka Captain Dimuth Karunaratne told reporters yesterday that they will take up the matter with Sri Lanka Cricket after the Bangladesh Test series. (NewsWire)
