Maldives Parliament Speaker, former President Mohamed Nasheed has been injured in an explosion outside his residence – Canaryge – located in Galolhu district of the Maldivian capital.
The explosion took place just as Nasheed entered his car, which was parked outside his residence.
Nasheed has been taken to hospital for emergency treatment.
The explosion also resulted in injuries to his bodyguard and a bystander – identified as a foreign national.
