Woman in Galle becomes oldest SL citizen to die due to Covid

A 103-year-old woman has died due to COVID-19, becoming the oldest person to die due to the virus in Sri Lanka. 

The deceased has been identified as a mother of one and a resident of Ginimellagaha South in the Galle District.

The woman who had suffered from an illness for a long period is said to have suffered from fever over the last two days, following which she had died at her residence.

Her body was transferred to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital after which a PCR test had been conducted, confirming that she had contracted COVID-19.

Previously, a 102-year-old, also from Galle, who had died due to the virus, was considered as the oldest person in Sri Lanka to die due to the coronavirus. (NewsWire)
