New health guidelines issued relaxing restrictions on several more activities

New health guidelines have been issued relaxing restrictions imposed on several activities in Sri Lanka due to the coronavirus pandemic. 

Director-General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena said the activities permitted to reopen from today must strictly adhere to the health guidelines. 

The activities permitted to operate from today are as follows:

  • Children’s parks 
  • Religious institutions and religious festivals
  • Wildlife sanctuaries/Zoo 
  • Adventure/ Camping sites
  • Indoor musical shows allowed under 50% capacity
  • Sports allowed (sports with Physical contact not allowed)
  • Betting centers opened
  • Hostels and boardings

However, outdoor musical shows and carnivals have been prohibited until further notice. 

Dr. Asela Gunawardena said the restrictions have been relaxed after reviewing the current coronavirus situation in the country. (NewsWire)
