Long weekend: Army Commander makes request from public

A decision has not been taken to impose a complete travel restriction in view of the upcoming long weekend, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said. 

Stating that nearly 2000 people are under medical care at present, the Army Commander said 1500 infections were also being detected on a daily basis. 

He further requested the general public to remain vigilant and act responsibly during this period. 

General Shavendra Silva further said that the inter-province travel ban is in effect for the general public.

He said the travel ban is in effect as there is a risk of the virus spreading to other areas. (NewsWire)
