Administration of AstraZeneca 1st dose also begins, Nearly 250K take 2nd dose in 2 days

A total of 174,985 AstraZeneca vaccines were administered as the second dose in Sri Lanka yesterday.

State Minister Channa Jayasumana said this brings the total second dose of the vaccine administered in the last two days to 244,251. 

He further said 22,981 people were administered the AstraZeneca vaccine as the first dose in the Kegalle District yesterday.

The Minister said the vaccines were provided from the stock that had arrived from Japan recently. 

Meanwhile, 203,515 people had been administered the Sinopharm vaccine as the first dose and 18,483 had received it as the second dose. 

Twelve (12) people received the Pfizer vaccine as the first dose, while six (06) people received it as the second dose. 

The Moderna vaccine was provided to 2,490 people as the first dose during the course of the day.

However, the Russian manufactured Sputnik V vaccine was not provided yesterday. (NewsWire)
