Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is willing to tour Pakistan when there is an opportunity to play a series in Pakistan, a senior SLC official told NewsWire.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had reportedly reached out to Sri Lanka for a short series in the country to make up for the cancellation of the New Zealand tour but since players from Sri Lanka had prior commitments, no series could be planned.

“If Pakistan assures us the security, we will be more than willing to send a team when we have a time frame where both teams are free, Pakistan gave us top security in 2019 when our team toured,” the SLC official said.

“As you all know PCB is a great friend of SLC and I am personally disappointed about the cancellation. I am very proud to say I went to Pakistan before sending our team in 2019 to observe the strength of their security. It was unbelievable the protection they offer – they have all the latest security systems in place. You have hundreds of cameras all set and a person can’t even move without being noticed. So, I have full confidence about Pakistan security. So, if the PCB invites us, this is something we would seriously consider,” Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary Mohan de Silva also had told a local newspaper yesterday. (NewsWire)
