Changes to current traffic light system among five key decisions taken related to road development

A traffic light signal system with the latest technology will be installed in Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Highways has announced. 

Secretary to the Ministry of Highways R.W.R. Pemasiri said the new system will be installed in line with the widening of all major junctions in Colombo.

He expressed these views during a media briefing held at the President’s Media Centre yesterday.

The Secretary to the Ministry of Highways further announced five key decisions that have been taken with regard to road development.

Following are the five (05) key decisions: 

  1. Steps to widen main road junctions in Colombo
  2. Install traffic light signal systems with the latest technology
  3. Develop the Colombo- Puttalam Road soon
  4. Plans to reduce wastage through proper coordination
  5. Complete the constructions of the Kurunjankerni Bridge in Kinniya within the next 09 months
