Hewalunuwilage Lasantha alias ‘Tinkar Lasantha’, the chief suspect wanted over the murder of underworld figure ‘Sunshine Suddha’ has been killed in a shootout with the Police.
‘Tinkar Lasantha’ who was wanted for several crimes, including murder, was reportedly hiding in a house in the Diyagama area in Kalutara.
The suspect had been arrested and had been escorted by the Police to recover hidden weapons.
He had thereafter opened fire at the Police officers, prompting them to open fire in retaliation.
‘Tinkar Lasantha’ was killed in the shoot-out, while two Police officers are reported to have sustained injuries in the incident. (NewsWire)
