Official foreign exchange rates comparison Nov 1 vs Dec 1

The Sri Lankan Rupee has appreciated against several foreign currencies in comparison to a month ago.

The comparison has been reported between 1st November 2021 and 1st December 2021. 

According to the Central Bank, the Rupee has appreciated against the Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Euro, and Sterling Pound.

The buying rate of the Australian Dollar was Rs.147.43 and the selling rate was Rs. 153.80 in November, while the buying rate is Rs. 140.06 and the selling rate is Rs. 146.29 in December.

The buying rate of the Canadian Dollar was Rs.159.06 and the selling rate was Rs. 165.27 in November, while in December, the buying rate is Rs.154.35 and the selling rate is Rs.160.49. 

The Euro’s buying rate was Rs. 228.49 and the selling rate was Rs. 236.98 in November, while the buying rate is Rs.224.27 and the selling rate is Rs. 232.84 in December.

The buying rate of the Sterling Pound was Rs. 270.12 and the selling rate was Rs. 278.88 in November, while the buying rate is Rs. 262.52 and the selling rate is Rs. 271.16 in December.  

However, the US Dollar has been maintained at a standard buying rate of Rs. 198.50 and selling rate of Rs. 202.99 during both months.

Despite the Rupee having appreciated as per official rates, foreign currency is being sold at a higher rate in the black market with many being unable to purchase necessary foreign currencies.  (NewsWire)
