How Sri Lanka’s tourism income has fallen

Sri Lanka’s tourism income has seen a significant drop in last two years in comparison to previous years according to statistics of Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).

As per the report, Sri Lanka’s tourism income was at US$ 624.8 million in 2020.

However, the country’s tourism income is at US$ 32.8 million as at the end of August 2021.

Following the end of the war in 2009, tourism income was at Rs. US$ 349.6 and was on a steady rise until 2019.

The tourism income dropped significantly in 2020 to US$ 682.4 from US$ 3, 606.9 in 2019. (NewsWire)
