The Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association has called on Minister of Media Dullas Alahapperuma to intervene in the suspension of employment of journalist Manjula Samarasekara by the Lake House administration.

In a letter to the Minister, the Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association said the Lake House administration had arbitrarily suspended journalist Manjula Samarasekara in November without notice.

Manjula Samarasekara had been heading the Digital Media Department at the time of his suspension, while the Lake House administration is yet to notify the reasons for his suspension.

Stating that it is a violation of the journalist’s fundamental rights, the Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association called on Minister Dullas Allahapperuma to intervene in the matter and help reinstate journalist Manjula Samarasekara back to his designation.

Meanwhile, the Free Media Movement has also called on Minister of Media Dullas Alahapperuma to intervene in the suspension of employment of journalist Manjula Samarasekara.

Issuing a statement, the Movement further said it condemns the actions of the Lake House administration in this regard. (NewsWire)
