Zimbabwe ODIs : Dasun gives health update after contracting Covid

Sri Lanka ODI & T20I Captain Dasun Shanaka has revealed that he has recovered after contracting COVID-19 recently.

In a Tweet, Dasun Shanaka said he will be fit to continue with day-day activities in another two days.

He further confirmed that he will commence training thereafter.

“I am pleased to let you all know that I am fully recovered from COVID – 19 and will be fit to continue with day-to-day life in two days’ time and will start training. Thank you all for your kind messages and prayers. Please wear a mask, take care and stay safe.” he tweeted.

Earlier, Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) Medical Unit said that Dasun Shanaka was in doubt for the upcoming Zimbabwe tour due to contracting COVID-19.

Fitness tests are set to be held on 7th January in view of the Zimbabwe tour which will commence from 16th January.

The SLC’s Medical Unit sources said it has been advised to refrain from exerting the body for two weeks after recovering from COVID-19.

Thereby, it has been reported that Dasun Shanaka is likely to be unavailable for the Zimbabwe tour.

However, sources close to the cricketer have revealed that he is keen to participate in the upcoming tour.

A final decision on the matter will be taken by the SLC’s selection committee. (NewsWire)
