Music band ‘Jaya Sri’ has been issued a notice on contempt of court charges for violating an injunction order issued by the Colombo Commercial High Court.

In December 2021, the Colombo Commercial High Court issued an injunction order to two members of the music band preventing them from releasing, singing, or promoting online 20 songs from its two new albums ‘Mod Goviya’ and Sundariye’.

The injunction was issued to band members Rohitha Jayalath and Rohana Jayalath based on a complaint filed by fellow band member Aruna Liyanage, who had claimed that the two brothers were trying to release the song after the group had disbanded.

Taking up for consideration the case today, the Colombo Commercial High Court issued a notice to Rohitha Jayalath and Rohana Jayalath on charges of violating the injunction order.

The lawyers representing Aruna Liyanage had pointed out that violating a court order was a serious offence.

The case will be taken up for consideration once again by the Colombo Commercial High Court on 27th January 2022. (NewsWire)
