Legends League : Arjuna Ranatunga Head Coach, two more SL players added

Six former Sri Lanka cricketers have arrived in Oman to participate in the Legends League tournament.

Former Sri Lanka stars TM Dilshan, Romesh Kaluwitharana, Chaminda Vaas, Muththaiah Muralitharan, Upul Tharanga, and Nuwan Kulasekara have reached Oman.

Two more former Sri Lanka cricketers, Ajantha Mendis and Dilhara Fernando have been added to the Legends squad.

The two former cricketers will join former Sri Lanka star Sanath Jayasuriya to arrive in Oman tomorrow (19).

Sri Lanka 1996 World Cup skipper Arjuna Ranatunga has been appointed as the Head Coach, while Mario Villavarayan has been appointed Assistant Coach.

The former Sri Lankan stars, who will be headed by Pakistan’s Misbah Ul-Haq in the tournament will commence practice sessions tomorrow.

The former cricketing legends from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, England will feature in the first season of the Legends Cricket League.

The players from these countries will be divided into 3 teams representing India, Asia, and the Rest of the World.

The former Sri Lankan cricketers will reportedly be part of a combined team with Pakistan, instead of a full Sri Lanka-only team.

The tournament has been scheduled to start from 20th January at Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Oman. (NewsWire)
