Unidentified gunmen have reportedly attempted to open fire at an ambulance in Panadura today.
Police spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that the incident had occurred when the ambulance was about to enter the Panadura Base Hospital.
He said four unidentified men on two motorcycles had attempted to open fire at the driver of the ambulance.
SSP Thalduwa said the suspects had attempted to open fire but the shooting had not taken place at the time.
The weapon used in the incident had malfunctioned due to which the firearm had failed to fire, he said.
The Police spokesman further said that the suspects had fled the area following the failed attempt.
He added that the Pandura Police has commenced investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
