Electricity update : Request from PUCSL

February 9, 2022 at 11:40 AM

Power shedding by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) will not take place today, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has announced.

Chairman of the PUCSL Janaka Ratnayake said that power shedding will not take place as the electricity demand can be met with the available capacity.

However, he requested the public to use electricity sparingly during peak hours today.

Janaka Ratnayake called on the public to restrict the excess use of power between 06.00 pm and 10.00 pm.

Sri Lanka is still facing a power crisis due to the lack of fuel to operate the power plants to generate power.

The Ministries of Power and Energy have taken temporary measures to prevent power disruptions by providing fuel in batches to generate power. (NewsWire)
