Another social activist has been summoned by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to record a statement.
The CID has issued summons to social activist Manorama Weerasinghe to appear on Thursday, the 17th of February.
Manorama Weerasinghe told NewsWire that he had received the CID summons yesterday, adding that the reason for the summons has not been clearly mentioned in the letter.
He said that the letter mentions that the inquiry is related to social media, but does not mention the exact details.
Weerasinghe further said that he will report to the CID along with his lawyer on the said date.
Earlier yesterday, social activist Shehan Malaka Gamage was arrested by the CID over a controversial statement he had made during a media brief held last year related to the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
Shehan Malaka Gamage was, however, released this morning after being granted bail by the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court. (NewsWire)
