Two Sri Lankan cricketers are doubtful for the opening match of the T20I series against India that will commence tomorrow.

Sri Lankan batsman Kusal Mendis and spinner Maheesh Theekshana are both in doubt for the first T20 against India.

According to the Sri Lankan team sources, Kusal Mendis had sustained an injury during the last match in the Australian series in which he scored 69 runs and was named man of the match.

The cricketer is yet to be declared fit for the India series, while the management is set to make a decision on him later today.

Meanwhile, spinner Maheesh Theekshana is also doubtful as he is also suffering from a minor injury.

Earlier today, it was reported that Sri Lanka spin sensation Wanidu Hasaranga will miss the India series as he is yet to recover from COVID-19.

The cricketer who tested positive in Australia remains in the country and will not be permitted to leave as he has tested positive in the latest PCR test.

The all-rounder has tested positive after the completion of his mandatory 07-day quarantine period. (NewsWire)
