Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella has issued a clarification on reports surrounding the outstanding electricity bill payment of his former residence.

Earlier it was reported that a payment of Rs. 12 million is overdue and is yet to be settled by the Minister.

Many had questioned as to why the electricity supply to the Minister’s former residence had not been disconnected despite such an outstanding bill.

Issuing a clarification on the matter, Minister Rambukwella pointed out that there had been drastic increases in his electricity bill, on which he has sought a clarification from the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).

Stating that the CEB has been issuing the bill under the name of the former occupant of the former residence, Minister Rambukwella said that despite being informed the CEB is yet to look into both his requests.

“Following a story on Social Media about an outstanding electricity bill invoiced to my residence, I would like to state the following with a video explanation. I trust this will empower you to make the right judgement & not give ear to misinformation & fake news,” the Minister said, issuing his clarification via a Twitter message. (NewsWire)
