A tense situation has been reported at a fuel station in Kesbewa following an argument between the owner of the shed and several consumers.

The owner of the fuel station was seen being questioned by the consumers who had been standing in queue for several hours.

However, an employee at the fuel station had intervened and an argument between the man and several consumers had escalated.

The employee had thereafter been assaulted by several of the agitated consumers, with the Police arriving at the scene to contain the clash.

Meanwhile, long queues for fuel have been reported in several areas of the country today as well.

Many consumers were seen standing in long queues with fuel cans in a bid to obtain necessary fuel.

The people are seen with fuel cans, despite the Government having issued a directive to fuel stations yesterday to refrain from providing fuel in cans and barrels to the public. (NewsWire)
