Rambukkana Incident : Court issues arrest orders

The Kegalle Magistrate’s Court has ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to arrest and produce before the court all Police personnel who were involved in the Police shooting in Rambukkana on 19th April 2022. 

Chaminda Lakshan, who is a father of two, was killed when the Police opened fire to disperse a group of protesters who were demanding fuel in Rambukkana. 

Kegalle Magistrate Vasana Nawaratne called on the IGP to arrest and produce those who were involved in the ordering and executing the Police shooting in Rambukkana.

The Magistrate had issued the order after the Kegalle Judicial Medical Officer had determined that the death of the victim had been caused due to gunshot injuries.

The order was issued when the case on the Police shooting in Rambukkana was taken up for hearing today. (NewsWire)
