Opposition MP Dr. Harsha de Silva has called on the government to allocate funds to continue the operations of the 1990 Suwa Seriya, free ambulance service.

Speaking in Parliament today, MP de Silva made a personal appeal, urging the government to allocate the necessary funds to run the emergency ambulance service.

He further told the Parliament that the 1990 Suwa Seriya ambulance service has run out of funds for its operations in Sri Lanka.

The 1990 Suwa Seriya Foundation was established by the Act of Parliament in 2018.

The free ambulance service has been in operation in Sri Lanka for just over 5 years. (NewsWire)
