Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) loyalist Dan Priyasad has been arrested over the attacks on anti-government protesters near the Temple Trees and at the Galle Face Green in Colombo on 09th May.

Dan Priyasad has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) after recording statements on the attacks on anti-government protesters which resulted in unrest breaking out across the country.

He was seen among several of the SLPP loyalists who were involved in the attack following a meeting with then Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Temple Trees.

Meanwhile, Moratuwa Mayor Saman Lal Fernando, Seethawakapura PS Chairman Jayantha Rohana, and Kelaniya PS member Manjula Prasanna have also been arrested along with Dan Priyasad over the attacks.

The arrests come after the Attorney General had instructed the CID to arrest several SLPP MPs and loyalists including MPs Johnston Fernando, Sanath Nishantha, Milan Jayathilake, and Dan Priyasad provided sufficient evidence was collected.

SLPP MPs Sanath Nishantha and Milan Jayathilake were arrested yesterday after recording statements on the attacks with the CID.
