Five illegally imported luxury vehicles seized

The Customs Department has seized five luxury vehicles that had been illegally imported to Sri Lanka. 

Customs officials said the seized vehicles include a BMW, Mercedez, and an Audi.

The vehicles had reportedly been illegally imported under the guise of spare parts from the United Kingdom. 

The Customs officials further said the vehicles had been seized from a warehouse located in Orugodawatte. 

Meanwhile, the Customs officials have also seized restricted goods worth over Rs. 50 million that had been illegally imported to Sri Lanka.

The restricted goods include 2500 bottles of whiskey worth US$ 40,000, Engine oil, beauty products, turmeric, and lighters. 

The goods were seized by the Customs officials from two containers in a Wattala cargo clearing centre. (NewsWire)
