Fuel crisis : Several train services cancelled

Twenty-two trains that were scheduled to operate today have been cancelled, the Sri Lanka Railway Department said. 

The department said the train services that have been cancelled include several office trains as well.

The train services have been cancelled due to an issue with railway staff reporting to work, the Railway department added.

It further said that the railway staff are unable to report to work due to the existing fuel crisis in the country.

Thereby, Office trains plying on the main railway line from Colombo Fort to Rambukkana, Meerigama, Veyangoda, and other trains travelling to Chilaw, Panadura, and Wadduwa have been cancelled. 

The train travelling from Colom- Fort to Batticaloa with pre-reservation has also been cancelled, while the train transporting goods to Avissawella has also been cancelled. (NewsWire)
