Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has summoned a special Party Leaders’ meeting at 04.00 pm today.

Earlier this afternoon, the PM also called for an emergency Party Leaders’ meeting to discuss the current situation in the country and come to a swift resolution.

The special Party Leaders’ meeting has been summoned after the public stormed the Presidential Secretariat and the President’s official residence during anti-government protests today.

The public took to the streets in mass protests to show displeasure against the President and government over the current crisis in Sri Lanka.

Over 40 people have been injured during the anti-government protests and have been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital. (NewsWire)
