The Police have fired tear gas to disperse a group of protesters who had gathered near the Prime Minister’s Office on Flower Road in Colombo 07.

The protesters had gathered near the Prime Ministers’ Office to call on Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to resign alongside President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today.

Anti-government protesters stormed the President’s official residence and office and the Prime Minister’s official residence, Temple Trees, in Colombo during the mass public uprising on 09th July.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s private residence in Colombo 07 was also destroyed after being set on fire by unknown persons during the uprising.

The public has called on both the President and Prime Minister to step down over the current economic crisis in Sri Lanka.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has said that he will announce his resignation today but left for the Maldives under tight security early this morning.

However, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is yet to respond to the demands of the citizens of Sri Lanka. (NewsWire)
