The Sri Lanka Police is yet to settle payment to the Water Board for the water used to disperse protesters during the recent public protests in Colombo.
According to the Island, a senior Police officer has revealed that a huge amount of water had been used by the Police during the protests.
The Police officer further confirmed that the Police Department is yet to pay the National Water Supply and Drainage Board for the usage of water to operate water cannons.
Meanwhile, sources have revealed that the Police have taken steps to bring in tear gas canisters to Colombo from the Police stations’ outstation.
The senior Police officer said only a limited number of tear gas canisters were left in Colombo Police stations as large quantities of tear gas had been used during the protests in Colombo and its suburbs.
“So, we have had to ask Police stations from other parts to send in their stocks to Colombo,” the officer added. (NewsWire)
