Police arrest man among group counting cash at President’s house

A 26-year-old youth has been arrested on suspicion of causing damage to property at the President’s official residence during the recent public protests in Colombo. 

The Police said the youth was arrested on suspicion based on investigations conducted into the causing of damage to property at the President’s residence after the public stormed it on the 09th of July 2022. 

The suspect was arrested this morning and has been identified as a resident of Mal Mawatha in Colombo 14. He is reportedly employed at a store on Huseniya Road, Colombo. 

The suspect has been identified as a member of the group that was seen counting money that had been found at the President’s official residence after the public stormed the state building. 

He has been identified via the video footage that had been shared on social media of a group of protesters counting money that was found at the President’s official residence. (NewsWire)
